IR Beam Sensor
This kit uses an infrared beam to monitor door & passage-ways or any other area. When the beam is broken a relay is tripped which can be used to sound a bell or alarm. Suitable for detecting customers entering a shop, cars coming up a driveway, etc. The IR beam is very strong. Distances over 25 yards can be monitored with this Kit. A 12VDC supply is required to power the kit. A 12V wall adaptor is fine. Provision have been made so that only one power supply needs to be used to power both units. The relays in this kit are rated to switch mains voltages.
- Transmitter: L: 1-3/4" W: 1-1/4" H: 1"
- Receiver: L: 2" W: 1-7/8" H: 1"
- Relay Contact Ratings: 250VAC @ 12Amps
- Requires 12 Volt DC power supply
--> I was a bit surprised that this came truly as a kit, meaning a pile of resistors, etc, requiring assembly on a PCB. I had never tackled such a task, but with the instructions and a soldering iron, was able to assemble it in short order. And... it worked great! Actually, it was kind of fun.
You cant beat the price and the system worked just as advertised. It is really sensitive, and I found that using longer tubes on either end was better for reducing unwanted noise.
I recommend this kit.
--> This IR light barrier circuit was easy to assemble and works well beyond the distance it is rated for. I didn't test it under adverse conditions such as intense sunlight or flourescent lighting with high-frequency ballasts, but according to the specs from the manufacturer of the IR receiver unit, it is designed to reject such interference.
