Assorted Melodies Sound Chip
This series of kits, known as chip-on-board or COB, have application specific IC's at the heart. This means that each IC has only one very specific application, and that it was designed to do that specific job with as few external components as possible. For example, the CK1203 has a COB that is a CMOS VLSI that makes four sound effects for the model railroader. (VLSI=very large scale integration) These COB's are small and should be quite concealable in most applications.
Talk about a circuit that would be great to build into a toy for a little kid...This COB produces sixteen different melodies. When the switch is pushed, the first melody is triggered and plays through. Each song is played in turn with each subsequent trigger. An LED driver is available and its output synchronizes with the rhythm of the tune. Some of the tunes are: Cuckoo Waltz, For Elsie, Home on the Range, Hush Baby, The Farmer in the Dell, etc...and the rest are a secret until you purchase the kit. All parts including speaker are provided, except a 3 volt battery: operates between 2.5 and 5 volts DC.
